What are Triggers in Google Tag Manager?
In Google Tag Manager (GTM), triggers are conditions that determine when a particular tag should be fired. They define the circumstances under which a tag should execute and are a crucial part of the tag configuration process.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to create a trigger in Google Tag Manager:
- Select the container for the website you want to work on.
- In the left-hand menu, click on “Triggers.”
- Click the “New” button to create a new trigger.
- You will be prompted to choose a trigger type. Select the appropriate type based on your tracking needs.
- Configure the trigger conditions as per your requirements.
- Click the “Save” button.
Associate Triggers with Tags:
Now that you have created a trigger, you need to associate it with a tag. Navigate to the “Tags” section in the left sidebar.
Edit an existing tag or create a new one.
In the tag configuration, find the “Triggering” section.
Click inside the “Triggering” section, and you will see a list of available triggers. Select the trigger you just created.
